Born in Taiwan, Yi-Wei Chu began her musical journey at the age of five with both piano and violin. She pursued formal training through the music programs at Dongmen Elementary School, Jianhua Junior High School, and Hsinchu Senior High School, later earning her degree from the Department of Music at National Tsing Hua University.

Throughout her development as a musician, Yi-Wei has been actively engaged in chamber music, masterclasses, and competitions, while also presenting solo and collaborative performances. She has appeared in numerous concerts, including her violin graduation recital, performances with the TSMC Education & Culture Foundation, and as a featured soloist with the Dongmen Elementary School Orchestra in Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons – Spring. She later served as music director and performer for the Jianhua Junior High School 80th Anniversary Alumni Concert and was invited to perform for Disney+ promotional projects.

Alongside performance, Yi-Wei is deeply committed to teaching. Her experience includes studio instruction, private lessons, and serving as a substitute teacher in elementary school music programs. Many of her students have gone on to be accepted into specialized music programs and have excelled in ABRSM violin examinations, often achieving high marks with distinction. She also performs frequently at weddings, banquets, and other cultural events, bringing her artistry to diverse audiences.

As a teacher, Yi-Wei embraces a philosophy that combines rigor with joy. She welcomes students from the age of three and a half, with no upper age limit, and adapts her methods to meet the unique character and needs of each individual. Her lessons are lively and interactive, often incorporating creative tools, games, and even drawing to inspire imagination while building discipline and musicianship.
